Why have I decided to help families with transgender relatives just like you?
I have a family member who is transgender and I know how difficult it’s been to find help and support. It can be a very challenging time and it can feel a lonely time too.
I help clients by listening, supporting, educating, providing resources and finding solutions to issues. I have completed training with The Queer Therapist and achieved an advanced certificate in working with trans and gender diverse clients.
I have been trained in an integrative approach which means I have a range of counselling styles to suit my clients.
Since 1996 I’ve worked in a variety of jobs where I have used my skills to help and support others, which is something you may be looking for.
I’ve worked with the elderly, those with learning difficulties, clients with long term health conditions and those with mental health issues to name but a few.
All of these jobs have required me to have understanding, patience, empathy, compassion and the ability to help that person live their best life. That’s why I love being a counsellor.
Why did I train as a counsellor?
I myself have had counselling over the years and I know how beneficial it’s been for me. I then decided I wanted to be sat in the therapist chair helping others to overcome their challenges and difficulties.
In 2011 I trained as a massage therapist and I’ve found with my massage work that clients felt safe to open up to me about their problems and struggles and so I felt I needed to train as a counsellor.
I’m passionate about empowering others, to find solutions, to help people take control and move forward in a more positive way
